Help Us Set our Climate Priorities: Take the SL-CLEAR Survey by February 11

🌍 Tackling Climate Change: A Race We Can Win Together! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

Mitigating climate change is both a sprint and a marathon. The challenge? We need to cut our emissions and local air pollution drastically in the near term while investing in projects that can have sustained impact over time. The good news? The Biden Administration’s Inflation Reduction Act has provided billions of dollars in federal funding to support climate action. If we make a compelling emissions reduction plan, we can apply for implementation funds to execute.

πŸ’° $1M Grant: Fueling Our Climate Action Planning Process

Last year, staff at SLCgreen secured a $1M grant from the EPA for the greater Salt Lake and Tooele metro area to create a climate and pollution reduction plan. We are working to identify high-impact, actionable and equitable ways to cut emissions and reduce pollution through this grant, which we’ve named the Greater Salt Lake Energy & Air Roadmap (SL-CLEAR) process. We need to submit a Priority Climate Action Plan to the EPA by March 1. In tandem, we are also working on grant applications to put some of these ideas into action – with an EPA Implementation grant deadline of April 1. So, this truly is a sprint!

πŸš€ Priority Climate Action Plan: Your 15 Minutes Can Shape Our Future!

This is where you come in! We want to better understand your perceptions of air pollution and climate change, and how you think available funding should be invested to reduce pollution. Please take just 15 minutes to respond to our survey. The information you provide will be summarized and reviewed by participating local governments before the list of high priority actions is finalized.  This survey is open to residents of Salt Lake and Tooele counties, please only take it if you are a resident of the area.

The survey closes February 11, so please take it before then.
