Food Day is a nationwide celebration of healthy, affordable, and sustainably produced food and a grassroots campaign for better food policies.

Salt Lake City is marking Food Day 2013 with a series of exciting local events.

Monday, October 21: Food Day Forum

Have you been wondering about how federal sequestration cuts have impacted Utah non-profits that deliver food aide to our community? Concerned about the state of the 2013 Farm Bill? Curious about the relationship between food insecurity and nutrition?

Tuesday, October 22: An Evening with Five Utah Farmers

Come for a screening of the film short and listen to the featured farmers speak about their motivations for farming here in Utah, the obstacles they have encountered, and the rewards they’ve gained. Facebook event.

Wednesday, October 23: 100 Mile Meal (SOLD OUT!)

Did you know the average meal in the United States travels 1,500 miles from the farm-gate to your plate?

Join Mayor Ralph Becker and Mayor Ben McAdams at the 100 Mile Meal, an opportunity for Salt Lake City to celebrate its local food, farms, and economy, while illustrating a commitment to sustainable agriculture. The meal will highlight seasonal ingredients sourced from farms within 100 miles of Mayor Becker’s Salt Lake office. Facebook event.
